Introduction:
A laboratory dedicated to the production of counterfeit cosmetics was found in France, according to a report on the government’s customs website, following an investigation of sever weeks.
It was operated under with two purposes: one is to manufacture cosmetic products under its own brand for export, the other one is to manufacture counterfeit cosmetics in the name of local brand for hitting the shelves in French pharmacies. Products included body and facial skin care products.
The report also uncovered two relates storage facility under a second company, used for the storage and shipping of the counterfeit products, one located Seine-et-Marne, the same place as where the laboratory is located, and the other in Calvados.
It is considered as an exceptional and unprecedented case, not only because it is a laboratory with dual activity, but also because the place of manufacturing these cosmetic products was located on the same territory as the origin of the brand, according to the assertion of the National Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation in its statement.
